Every article carries three pieces of metadata beside its body: an excerpt, a set of tags, and a URL slug. All three live in the Article settings drawer in the editor, and all three affect how readers find the article.
Excerpt
A one- or two-sentence summary shown in article lists and search results, both in the admin and on your public knowledge base. Write it deliberately: say what the article helps the reader do, rather than restating the title. If you leave it empty, readers see nothing but the title in lists.
Tags
Tags group related articles and power search and filtering. In the drawer, start typing under Tags to pick from your company's existing article and shared tags. If no tag matches what you typed, the picker offers Create "name" so you can add one without leaving the editor.
Everything else about tags is managed centrally in Settings > Tags: their scope (article, conversation, or shared), their colours, usage counts, and merging duplicates. See Manage your tag catalogue: scopes, colours, merge & tagging.
URL slug
The slug is the last segment of the article's public URL. It is generated from the title, and you can edit it at any time from the drawer. Old links keep working after a rename, because HelpBento redirects the previous slug to the new one; see Change an article's URL slug (old links keep working).
