A draft or archived article has no public URL, so you cannot open it in a new tab to check how it reads. The editor's preview renders it with the same typography your knowledge base uses, without publishing anything.
Preview from the editor
- Open the article in the editor.
- Click the Preview article button (the eye icon) at the right of the header.
- A modal opens with the article rendered as a reader would see it. Close it to keep editing.
The button appears only for drafts and archived articles. On a published article the same spot holds View in knowledge base instead, which opens the live page.
Preview from the stats page
The article's stats page has a Preview button in its header that opens the same modal, useful when you are reviewing an archived article, which cannot be opened in the editor.
What a preview does not do
- It does not publish, change the article's status, or touch its version history.
- It is not counted as a view. Views are recorded on your public knowledge base, and the preview never leaves the admin, so checking your own drafts does not skew the article's stats.
