The AI assistant can write a complete first draft from a short brief, or add a single new section to an article that already exists. Both live in the assistant rail beside the editor, and both preview in the editor before anything is saved. The assistant has to be turned on for your company first: see Turn on the AI assistant & set your company context.
Open the AI assistant
Click AI in the editor header. The rail opens as a push panel beside the document on desktop and as a drawer on mobile. The editor stays fully editable while it is open.
What the rail shows depends on the article:
| Article state | What you get |
|---|---|
| Empty | A guided flow that writes the whole article: Describe, Review, Organise, Publish |
| Already has content | The Assistant view with three tabs: Improve, Add Content, and Feedback |
Generate a whole article
The guided flow has four stops: Describe, Review, Organise, and Publish. Nothing is saved until you keep the draft.
- Describe. Enter an Article Topic (for example, "How to reset your password") and, optionally, Details & Requirements such as steps to include or an audience to write for. Pick a Tone; it defaults to your company's default tone when one is set. Leave Use company context on so the draft follows your terminology and style, then generate. Progress streams into the rail as the assistant works through the outline. Generated drafts include callouts and code examples where they fit.
- Review. The draft previews in the editor with its own title. Click Keep this draft to accept it, Adjust to describe what should change (for example, "add a section about two-factor codes, and keep it shorter") and regenerate, or Start over to return to your brief.
- Organise. Pick the category the article belongs in. If the assistant spots an existing category that matches your draft, it offers it; if you have no categories yet, you can create the first one here.
- Publish. Publish straight from the rail, or close it and keep editing. Publishing follows the same rules as the Publish button in the editor header.
Similar articles already exist
If the assistant finds published articles that already cover the topic, the review step shows them under Similar articles already exist, with links to each. Open one and edit it instead if it fits; otherwise keep your draft.
Add a new section to an existing article
When an article needs one more section rather than a rewrite, use the Add Content tab.
- Open the rail and choose the Add Content tab.
- Under What content do you want to add?, describe the section (for example, "Add a troubleshooting section" or "Add some FAQs").
- Under Where to insert?, choose End of article or Start of article.
- Leave Match existing tone on so the new section reads like the rest of the article, and Use company context on to apply your terminology.
- Click the add button. The section previews in place in the editor.
The rail shows an AI proposal under review bar while the preview is active. Click Accept to keep the section, Retry for a different take on the same instruction, or Discard to restore the article as it was.
