HelpBento has a permanent free tier, not only a trial. It is both a starting point and the place your workspace lands if you finish your trial or cancel a paid plan without picking another one.

The single knowledge base can be any type, including a changelog. Free does not include the AI article assistant, the AI support agent, the inbox, content import, custom domains, or API access, and extra seats cannot be bought on Free. Upgrade to add any of these: see Manage your plan: overview, upgrade & downgrade.
If you are over the limit when you land on Free
Landing on Free with more seats, published articles, or knowledge bases than it allows triggers a downgrade sweep. Nothing is deleted:
- Over-cap members are suspended. Your earliest members keep their seats.
- Over-cap knowledge bases are disabled. The earliest-created ones stay public.
- Over-cap articles are unpublished. The earliest-published ones stay live.
- Custom domains are turned off.
Everything is restored automatically the moment you upgrade back to a plan that covers your usage.
Why a knowledge base shows as "disabled by your plan"
That flag on a knowledge base in your list or sidebar means exactly this: the knowledge base is intact but hidden from the public because your current plan does not cover it. Upgrading brings it straight back.
