A draft that says the right things in the wrong order, or in a tone that does not match the rest of your help center, is a job for the Improve tab. It rewrites content you already have and previews the result in the editor, so you see exactly what would change before you accept it. Opening the rail is covered in Generate an article or a new section with AI.
Improve a selection or the whole article
- If you only want part of the article rewritten, select that text first. The scope switches to Selection on its own; choose Whole article to widen it.
- Open the rail and choose the Improve tab.
- Under What would you like to do?, pick one or more actions.
- Optionally pick a Tone, and add Additional context the assistant should know (for example, "This article is for beginners").
- Leave Use company context on to apply your terminology and style.
- Click Improve Selection or Improve Content.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Fix grammar & spelling | Corrects errors without changing meaning or structure |
| Improve clarity | Rewrites muddled sentences and tightens explanations |
| Expand content | Adds detail where the text is too thin |
| Simplify & shorten | Cuts length and complexity |
| Make accessible | Fixes accessibility problems (see below) |
Tone is separate from the actions, and you pick at most one: Professional, Casual, Technical, or Friendly. Leave it at No tone change to keep the current voice.
Accept, retry, or discard
The proposal previews live in the editor, and the rail shows an AI proposal under review bar until you decide:
- Accept applies the change.
- Retry reissues the same request for a different take.
- Discard restores your original text.
Nothing is saved until you accept.
Make an article accessible
Make accessible runs a pass aimed at readers using assistive technology and at readability in general. It looks for images with unclear or missing alt text, ambiguous link text such as "click here", and sentences that are hard to read, then proposes fixes the same way as any other action. For a report instead of a rewrite, ask for Accessibility issues feedback; see Get and act on AI feedback.
