Your first article takes a few minutes: a title, a body, a category, and a click on Publish. This walkthrough covers that path once and points you to the detail for each step. The editor is block-based, in the style of Notion, so once you know how to insert and move blocks you can build anything.
Create the article
- Go to Articles and create a new article. The editor opens with an empty document.
- Type the title at the top of the document. The title is part of the document itself, so undo and redo step through title edits along with everything else.
- Press Enter and write the body as plain paragraphs. Type
/on an empty line whenever you need something other than a paragraph: a heading, a list, an image, a callout.
File it under a category
Use the Select category dropdown in the editor header to file the article. You can leave it uncategorised and file it later, but your public knowledge base's category navigation only lists articles that have a category. To set categories up, see Create categories & subcategories.
Keep an eye on length
As you write, the editor shows a running word count and an estimated reading time, calculated from your content. A help article that answers one question tends to stay short; when the count keeps climbing, consider splitting it in two.
Your work is saved as you go
The editor autosaves while you type, and the save indicator in the header shows when it last saved. You do not need to save before leaving. For what happens after a crash or a closed tab, see Autosave, recovery & edit conflicts.
Publish it
When the draft is ready, click Publish in the editor header. The article goes live on your public knowledge base straight away, and you can keep editing it afterwards. For unpublishing, archiving, and the rest of the lifecycle, see Article statuses: publish, unpublish, archive & restore.
